Overview: We are seeking a board-certified neonatologist with a
minimum of three years of experience in delivering specialized care
to infants in a level III NICU at a community hospital. Key
responsibilities include overseeing critical care for newborns from
22 to 23 weeks gestational age and older, working collaboratively
with multidisciplinary teams and subspecialists, and providing
mentorship to family medicine residents. This position features a
flexible schedule with alternating weeks on and off, remote night
coverage, and extensive hospital support, including malpractice
insurance and medical staff membership. Our organization is
currently looking for a neonatologist to join the Neonatal Medical
Group: Must be board certified and possess at least three years of
experience caring for level III NICU patients. Strong teamwork and
communication skills with both parents and the NICU team are
essential. This is an independent contractor role. A valid
California medical license is required or must be obtainable.
High-level III Community NICU with individual spaces for each
infant, ensuring partial privacy. Work schedule consists of a week
on/week off block arrangement. Coverage for federal holidays is
expected 1-2 times per year. Daytime coverage is provided by the
MD, with partial support from the NNP. Night shifts are currently
covered by the MD from home, within a 30-minute driving radius.
Standard care is provided for infants at 23 weeks gestational age
and above. Plans to include selected cases at 22 weeks gestational
age soon. Utilization of conventional and HFOV, along with
non-invasive support. Experience with Nitric Oxide therapy. Access
to a variety of pediatric subspecialties on staff, including
pediatric neurology, cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology,
gastroenterology, orthopedics, in-house ROP exams, physical
therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and local pharmacy
services. A dedicated maternal-fetal medicine team is also
available. In-house special studies include ECHO, X-ray, contrast
imaging, ultrasound, MRI/CT, sleep studies, pH monitoring, and EEG.
24/7 access to additional subspecialty consultations and referrals
to nearby advanced care centers. Local ground transport team
available for patient transfers. Weekly multidisciplinary rounds
with various team members in the NICU. Monthly morbidity and
mortality rounds with the obstetrics group. Opportunity to mentor
family medicine residents during their NICU rotation. Compensation
is competitive and above average for the region, with paid
malpractice insurance and medical staff membership included. Our
