Job Summary:

This person will work as a Lead Teacher in a QPI, HS, and CSPP classroom in the mornings, and then take over the Clubhouse School age program in the afternoon. Lead the educational care and development of a specific classroom by implementing all components of the Quality Preschool Initiative, CSPP and Head Start as defined in the Program requirements. Supervise all Instructional Assistants (IA's) and perform tasks required to support High Quality learning for all students, parents & extended families. Collaborate with children, staff & families to assure High Quality early childhood education - Maintaining a ECERS score of 6 or higher and a CLASS score of Emotional Support 5.5, Instructional Support 3.5 & Classroom organization 5.5 Insure your center maintains our current rating of Tier 5 in Pinwheel.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Responsible for planning & implementing a rich curriculum which incorporates the California Foundations & Frameworks, and The Creative Curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for using the CLASS tool to guide intentional teaching and meaningful engagement. The teacher will be responsible for creating and maintaining the specific interest centers including Science, Math, Literacy & Language, Dramatic Play, Block Play, Sensory Play, Reading Corner & Soft Places for relaxing using ECERS guidelines.
  • Responsible to insure daily Classroom cleanliness that meets with all Health & Safety Guidelines as defined within ECERS & the External Health & Safety review. Responsible to delegate cleaning routines to IA support staff.
  • Responsible to support the Site Director to insure compliance with all Licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and the Education Code as applicable. Reference CA Code of Regulations, Title 22 Sections 101215 and 101215.1, and Title 5.
  • Responsible to insure the accurate maintenance of classroom records including, but not limited to, written attendance, CACFP Meal Counts, Ouch Reports, Lesson Plans, curriculum, child observations (ASQ & DRDP), DRDP Tech, Learning Genie, Pinwheel, and parent training & communication.
  • Provides leadership, training, and coaching to School-Age Staff
  • Communicates with Director to execute, implement and relay program requirements, standards and needs to all School-Age staff.
  • Responsible for overseeing our after-school program, and camps.
  • Drive the bus to local elementary schools to pick up children from school.
  • Create a lesson plan for each week, of fun after school activities.
  • Help with homework and tutoring.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of our summer, spring break and winter camps.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan field-trips, as well as, creative, educational activities to keep our children's young minds entertained and learning while school is out.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in ECE/CD (or closely related field) + Teacher's Permit or higher
    • OR Master's Degree in ECE/CD (or closely related field)
    • OR BA/MA + Teaching Credential
    • OR BA/MA + Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit
    • OR Associates degree in ECE/CD + Teacher Permit
  • 21 hours of professional development annually
  • CPR/ First Aid Certified
  • Experience with tutoring, planning school age activities, summer camps, and special events.
  • Clean driving record and comfortable driving a 9 seater bus.
  • Passionate in working with all ages 5-12.
