About the Position: The Vista Chamber's Workforce Development Coordinator will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Chamber's strategic plan for workforce development. This position will address the current and future workforce needs of the City of Vista and serve as an exemplary program for the region and state.

The Vista Chamber's Workforce Development Strategic Plan will be designed to engage our community in understanding and supporting the workforce needs of our businesses. This position requires collaboration and interaction within private industry, education, nonprofit and governmental sectors. This position will require direct contact with a variety of businesses and workforce programs in our area and includes public speaking, public presentations, and media interviews. Many of these relationships will be in collaboration with existing programs and the ideal candidate must be able to work within these alliances. In addition, this person needs to be able to recognize training and program gaps and help create new programs to meet Vista's workforce development needs. The goal is to make the Vista Chamber of Commerce the "go to" resource for workforce development in Vista. The Workforce Development Coordinator reports directly to the Chamber CEO and will also work with members of the Education Committee and/or Board of Directors in developing initiatives. The position provides its own administrative support functions; however, the Chamber's Communications Coordinator will assist when needed to ensure continuity of products and to assist with graphic design and website/social media content.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
Associates degree or equivalent required.
Knowledge of Vista's businesses, industries and educational landscape.
Strong interpersonal skills working with staff, businesses, educational leaders, and community members.
Strong communication, writing, networking, and relationship building skills.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, CRM databases, and virtual platforms - audio/visual.
Must demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, reliability, leadership, and creativity. Occasional travel and events outside normal workday are required.
Must have reliable transportation, valid Driver's License, and car insurance.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred
Understanding of workforce development and the connection between K-16 and CTE programs.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
